EMMA

Emma

Good morning!!   A new week starting;   off to the dermatologist today and find out why this old skin isn't baby soft and beautiful.   I suppose after all the years of use and abuse, neglect and over doing the lotions and cremes, the skin rejects any and all offers to glow.    Wrinkles are 'something', not sure what but along with age comes build in lines of knowledge and wisdom;  well it is nice to think of them like that.    Cracks and crevices don't sound as nice.    I am sure there is little or nothing that can be done to rejuvenate them but one has to try to keep up appearances ....lines are good.

We had our monthly birthday gathering upstairs yesterday and the attendance was good.    The company is always good and the cupcakes tasty.   Two of our ladies have made the one hundred mark and that in itself is remarkable.    I am not sure how many more of us will make it, but several of us are in the running.   The mind has a way of slowly changing and it is always a surprise when you start to think of something it and is no longer there.   The inroads to the brain begin to fade a little at a time and it is not easy to remember details anymore.   There is a saying about using it or losing it and that is something to work on every day or you do lose it.   So don't wait until you 'get' there to use your brain;  make it a daily custom and keep up with the Jones.    Find reasons to use your brain each day;   write, read, sing, hum, and do have a coffee clatch or two as company will keep you active and active is what you want to be.

So today do not be a slug.   be active.   Be good, be kind, be gentle, be a friend, be YOU.    Take good care to shine today......make someone you like and love content to be in your world.    Go  S H I N E  . . . Hugs to all.

Good Morning!!

I hope you have flowers and sunshine in your life today.

A new week starting up;  hopefully a healthy one and the remnants  of the flu long gone.  It was a nasty one , but then there never is a 'good' flu.   Rest, fluids, a hot toddy going to bed helps but the cure is slow in coming, but sure takes its time leaving.   We all know sunshine is the cure all so lets us pray for sunshine today.

Erin has her photographs ready to hang at the Gallery today.  It will make a terrific display.   I hope some sell.   I am hoping for a trip over to see them on display.  I must remember to take my camera and take some pictures of her work  on display.   She is very talented.    She has a good eye.    She loves what she does and it shows.

So I am off to wake up;  feed a cold and starve a fever;   get dressed;  get out in the fresh air and hopefully enjoy the family one more day.    I'll be back.   Meanwhile stay healthy and happy and be sure you take good care of yourself.    Be good, be kind, be careful today as you go about living....smiling.....enjoying your seconds as they come.

Share YOU today!!!  Hugs to all.

Emma!

Emma

There are many ways to spend a Sunday but one of the very best is to join family members and watch a movie.  Order a pizza in;   feet up;   good company and relax.    Emma agrees.

A quiet Sunday.  Watching Erin preparing for an art show with all of her fabulous pictures is really something else again.    She has an artistic eye and knows how and what to do as she prepares for a show at the Gallery.    Her pictures are fabulous as she captures people, places and things.

I wonder what this coming week has in store for us.  Hopefully the flu bug will disappear and folks will begin to feel healthy and hardy again.   It spread around like wild fire;   will be happy to see it gone and everyone healthy again.

So if you have a visit from the flu bug, don't panic, go into a "I'm going to do nothing mode, and you can't make me." until the virus goes;  no sense fighting city hall;    just relax, put your feet up, do a lot of nothing, bend the elbow with a few tall glasses of get well 'stuff' and wallow.  You will soon be  on the mend and all will be right with your world.

Go...get well.....enjoy today.  Hugs to all.

The City

Seattle

The quiet of a Sunday, a ride to Manchester, a favorite spot,no crowds, country two lane roads, a stop for a soft ice cream, back home, a movie on Netflick, good company and a quiet Sunday was enjoyed by all.

A new week starting.   Wonder what is in store for us this week.    I am off to pour my coffee, check the e mail and find out what each of your are up to and wish you a good week.

I hope all are over that flu bug;  it was not a nice one; but  flu bugs are famous for being nasty.    Let us have high hope that this is going to be a good healthy week filled with chores to do, good deeds to take care of and find reasons to smile.

Go, be you....be good, be kind, be gentle and reach out and touch someone you love.   Hugs to all.

Who Says

But. . . only if you overdo;  sometimes a bit of that bubbly helps to alleviate the flu bugs that make life miserable when flu season arrives and does not want to leave.    We are in full bloom around here and yesterday I shared a tiny snifter of a scotch liqueur in hopes of chasing the flu bug away.   It didn't hurt, it didn't help, but the company was good and for a short while no one gave much thought to the sniffles.
Words to LIVE by.

The flu bug remains and a lot of the folks did not show for lunch yesterday.   It is strange to see a huge empty dining area even for a day.    Those that have the flu stayed put.   Those that have the flu hunkered down and didn't move .  The few that ventured out tried to stay clear of those who have the flu.    It is a nasty one, but then I have yet to 'meet' a flu bug that is friendly.    I had a tiny bit of scotch liqueur left so shared, and I don't even like scotch of any kind. . . but if it proved to help cure the bug then it was worth a try.   I am trying to think where I got the bottle to begin with as I am not a scotch drinker, and as far as I am concerned it still has not improved with age...yuck....

I hope you are all free of any flu and are out and about living the good life.    If you have a friend down and out be sure to drop of some lemons and a get well card;  a little cheer goes a long way when the flu bug moves in.    Nasty creatures.

Cook up a pot of soup and share.    Just work at staying healthy and happy ;  spring will be here before we know it...think Easter bunnies....chocolate candies......or better still, sunshine days and warmth and good health .... meanwhile take good care of YOU.   Hugs to all.

Flu Season

A new day;  hopefully a good day with all of the folks with the flu bug getting back to good health.   We had fifteen out yesterday.   The flu bug is a nasty one this year, well it is a nasty one every year...but even the flu shots didn't deter this one.   It has to run its course.

Be patient with yourself;  try not to get out into the crowds of folks as this bug passes around like it knows where its going.    A nasty one.    Stock up on soups;    ice cream makes for phlegm so buy sherbet or make up some jello.   Feed a cold, starve a fever.    Just take good care of you.

Be a scout...Be ready....and soon life will return to normal.

We all get sick and tired of being sick and  tired during the flu season. . . just be sure you take good care of yourself and soon life will get back to normal.  Be patient, oh yeah...sounds good  but not easy.

I am off to sulk, I don't like being sick with a flu bug.  I don't like being confined.  I don't like.....tough....there is a lot of things I don't like but.......that's life.

Take good care.   Be good,  Be kind.....Be gentle.....Be YOU.  Hugs to all.

Beautiful Strangers!

Hey there I think I want to be an elephant . . . what a cutie I am.     I am no Dumbo or Jumbo, just a cute little wannabee elephant fish.  Ah, Nature, how blessed we are.

Odd, different, colorful, love the ears, must be related the dragon family.

Now this is some stick....wow....how delicate, how beautiful.  If it landed on me I'd probably scream and shake it off and not even look to see the beauty and delicate nature of this little beast.

The flu hangs on.  Fifteen were down and out yesterday.  This is not a 'fun' bug;  it is nasty.  I have a counter top full of supposedly cure all products, which of course, don't work at all.   They create more of a problem as far as I am concerned.  A cold has to run its course;  there is no cure for a cold;  the experts have been working on a cure for as long as I have been around and that is a long time.    All you can do is stay dry, stay warm, heat the chicken broth and sip it;   hibernate, rest, relax and be patient;  but patience is a virtue and not many of us have it when we get a flu.   So, I am off to practice patience;  feet up, news on, sipping hot coffee and sulking.

So today avoid crowds;    stay warm and dry, eat well, rest and relax and avoid catching this flu bug as it is a nasty one.   If you already have the flu bug, then pamper yourself and 'get over it' , easier said than done, but the choices are few this time of year.  I want you 'betta'...smile!!

Be good, be kind, be gentle, be a practicing nurse today if you have a family member with the flu.  Be patient, be a life savor and make some good old fashioned chicken soup.   I am going to heat some up right now.    Go, take good care of YOU during this 'flu' season.   Hugs to all.

Wishful Thinking!!

A Pretty Nurse helps!!
Wishful thinking helps
A hot toddy, some snacks and an easy chair

That is all you get today as the flu bug has hit home and refuses to go away...just promise to take care of yourselves and try hard not to catch the flu bug that is going around;  it is not a fun one.

Meanwhile I am cuddled in my easy chair with a good book, have television if I get bored, have oodles and boodles of chicken soup and do not appreciate being confined one bit.....I want to go out...outside and play...smile......come to think of it, a trip to a casino would cure a cold...ha,ha,  I can hear the kids now.....so off I go , another day in the easy chair.   Have plenty of chicken soup....have green tea....have hopes of ending this bout with the flu...soon..the sooner the better.

Take good care of yourselves.   There is a lot of flu around.   Stock up on chicken soup as it really does make you feel better, no promise of a cure, but at least you know all your taste buds have not disappeared.    Just take good care of YOU....I'll be back.   Hugs to all.

Good Morning!!

Well you have to admit that it was a very peaceful transition . . . people

places, faces and a parade ushering in our new  President..Donald John Trump.   leading us into a bright and beautiful future.

The computer is acting strange so off I go...  I'll be back....Hugs to all.

Flu.....Yetch!

This luscious chocolate pie does not cure the flu but it certainly helps make 'the medicine go down' and it taste so good!!
This is how the flu makes one feel....I'm looking for a broom this morning...going to take off and fly to the moon until this is over....yetch!!! and more "yetch".
A yellow rose in remembrance.......think of some one you loved that has gone on before you . . . think memories of time shared.....as the bud opens, memories will pour out and bring peace and contentment.    Every one should treat themselves to a lovely yellow rosebud, just because you can.  You deserve a special treat . . . so. . . go buy yourself a yellow rose bud today.

There is no sense in rehashing the miserable effects of a flu bug.  There are no nice words.   It takes patience, which most of us do not have, to make peace with a flu bug.  The best bet is to accept what you cannot change and change what you can...I have a little cube that says just that.   The flu will run its course....where I'd like to run it I cannot say but you know exactly where.    Misery loves company but when you have the flu company avoids you like the plague.   But . . . some nice folks take time to slide a get well card under the door and that is an act that begets a feeling of being cared for.     Next trip out to the card shop I am going to stock up on some get well cards as they do bring a feeling of caring and sharing.    I had a great big orange given to me and it hit the spot...so nice to be treated.   I am not getting out as I don't want to pass on the germs as this is not a fun cold; it is a miserable flu;  a time of isolation....yuck!!!!   But....it will pass and life will return to normal .

Meanwhile I have been watching television from politics to westerns and back again.    I cannot tell you how many shows I sleep through , then wonder why I am not knowledgeable about all that is going on.    Could it be the drone of the voices;  or, am I just not interested.    Well, flu bugs mean inattention and that makes it a good excuse not to know what is going on....so....I am going to take my flu bugs and sulk today.   I want fresh air and sunshine and that is not in our forecast.   I want to go out to dinner with my girls but that is not likely as they have the flu bug too.    I think there is a saying , something about 'if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all'....good idea...I am going to love you and leave you for another day when the flu bug has disappeared and I am not crabby, snaughty nosed, runny eyed and just plain miserable....well......you asked.....smile......

Be good, be kind, be generous to those running around with signs of the flu....just ignore them....the flu bug is not to be shared.....I know that.....I'd give you a hug but I've go the flu.  Let me see now, kleenex, glasses, book, cryptoquote to do, cough drops, hot coffee;  yep, all set, see you tomorrow .  Hugs to tall.

FLU!

Good Morning!!

The old timers say :  "be patient, a flu has to run its course".....I have no objection to its running as long as it leaves.....

I really do not feel bad.  I think I sound worse than I feel but how do you account for a sore knee this morning???  Do cold germs settle in odd places?   I think the culprit is sitting much too much....I did walk the halls for a bit yesterday but want to walk outside in the fresh air..but rain is here and that means inside walking which stifles the adventuresome  spirit.  I am beginning to sound like a crabby patient....well, I am....so there too!!!!  There is a sliver lining in being down with a flu bug...cards...funny ones....clever ones....nice ones that wish you better....I am lucky....I am thankful for the reprieve of being confined...but.....I do not like it....I want out....sunshine would be nice;...a walk in fresh air would be better......a sunny disposition would be best....I'll just have to work on that.

So today, know I am thinking of you and hoping you will not catch a flu of any kind.   I wish you good health, a bit of wealth and a lot of love today.    I have a new box of Kleenex, a book to read, a puzzle on the table, a new pint of Couvasier , bet I didn't spell that right....but it doesn't change the taste at all...smile!!!

Go live a little, stay away from the flu bugs and be bright, be loving, be YOU and make today one of the best ever.  Hugs to all.

Winter

Winter in Japan.   Cousin Wendy lives and works over there and was just home for a holiday visit.  She returned in time for the first snow fall of the year.   How different, how beautiful as snow makes magic  on a beautiful building and an awesome bridge.

Now this is a winter scene.    The words to a song. ."baby its cold outside" comes to mind.

Winter is a special time of year.  It brings along a little discomfort but a lot of beauty.   There is nothing better than to get up very early in the morning when it is dark and cold and take yourself outdoors , shovel in hand, and get to work making a pathway on your sidewalk.   I grew up in the icy cold and winds of New England and learned how to use a shove very early in life.   Hard work?  No...fun...as we shoveled a path for folks to get by and made snow slides.  Pictures like the snow scene above bring back a thousand memories of the true beauty of winter.

Speaking of winter weather, we had rain yesterday . . .all day. . . a good day to stay 'put' and I did.  The flu bug is about gone, still some lingering residue that finds it hard to leave but walking the hallways did more good than harm.   I returned a soup mug to Vera filled with a few of the gifted cookies from my girls;  a thank you for being so thoughtful.    The soup was delicious and did make me feel a lot better.   There is something about hot soup and colds that are a 'given'.

So today, I think I am on the mend, I will get dressed and hopefully get out for a bit of fresh air and a trip to the store for some fresh fruit and vegetables.    Who knows I might have an adventure or two I can write about.   One never knows what the day will hold until you get on with it...so hopefully your day is going to be an adventurous  one with a lot of love and laughter.

Stay warm, stay dry, and above all be joyous....share YOU with those you like and love.    A good deed never hurts;  a hug or two brings smiles . . . you have your work cut out for you so go...be YOU....live, laugh and above all love....it makes your world go around in a glow of love and  laughter.   Hugs to all.

New Day!!

A New Day

A quiet Tide

Evening Tide

The sun sets
A day in our lives;  sunrise to sunset;   what did you do with your seconds today?  Something wonderful I hope.   I have been enjoying old pictures.  It is fun to go through them and evoke memories from time that has flown bye.   What pictures to put up today???  What stories to tell???  I have gone through several of the film archives looking for a special picture to share with you but my time is spent in memory lane as I view pictures that make the past come alive and the memories soar.    Faces, places and memories;  quite a combination.    If you could go back in time and relive one special day, which one would it be?   That is a tough one.  I am sure we all have memories that are so dear that we wouldn't trade them for 'all the tea in China' as the old expression goes.    We would stop and relish each second and smile with the warmth and love the remembrance holds.   We have so many it would be hard to choose just one moment....but the mind is a 'safe' and it holds memories that last forever and we can pick and choose one anytime we want a walk down memory lane.  So, if today you are feeling a bit out of sorts with yourself, take time out, get out the album and sit quietly and take a walk down memory lane.  I guarantee it will give you a lift you never expected.

Take time out for yourself.   Take time to heal if you have been hurting.  Take time to share some of your seconds with a family member or a good friend.   Take time to think about someone other than yourself.   Today is a good day to 'heal'.   Today is a good day to enjoy every breath you take.  Be good;  be kind;   be generous and share YOU with those you love and like.  Hugs to all.

Flu Bug Hints

Cowboy movies
endless hours
Friends

The flue bug is nasty, there is no other way to put it.   It saps all your strength, it uses up boxes of kleenex, it leaves you friendless ...with  the exception of  a friend who has the same viral bug and came to commiserate and join me in a hot toddy;   so all was not lost and we had time to chat and sip, sip and chat and all seemed much better in our viral world.    There is nothing like a good friend to share your toddy, almost makes it worth while...smile.

I was gifted a big bright yellow lemon, a lovely get well card and the news that this bug has been busy visiting other folks here at Ridgemont.   Confined in a closed building doesn't help much.   Everyone seems to have a cure and if we try them all we should all be the happiest group in town.   I was gifted a huge bowl of soup which I will try today.   Kindness is not lacking here.  Caring is on top of the list.   Hopefully this virus will not run rampant here.   Maybe the sun will shine today and we can open a door or two for a short while and air the place out.    Patricia comes over to check up on me and doesn't listen when I say not to come as she could catch this bug...not a fun one.  but she doesn't listen, a real Florence Nightingale who comes with all kinds of goodies to chase the bug away.    Home made soup, cookies and tea bags, and a lot of love...how lucky I am.   I have often been told you feed a cold and starve a fever;  don't have a fever;   do have a full belly and hopefully this virus will disappear.

So today be sure you check around and see what kind of a virus is lurking with the intention of laying you low.    Stock up on soups, the makings of a hot toddy, and don't forget a good book to take your mind of the sniffles.    And if you do get it, rest and regroup and you will soon be on  the mend.   Winter blahs are never fun but we know how to make good use of them.  Take good care of YOU. . . Now I know why my friends mother use to keep a roll of toilet tissue by her chair..it is cheaper than kleenex and just as useful...smile.    Go...take good care of you today.  Hugs to all.

Life Goes On!!

Linticular clouds are so beautiful.  This reminds me of a sailing ship. . . imagination is part of the fun in life as you can see so many wonders in our clouds.
We can manage one second at a time so let us manage each second wisely. . . loosen up and enjoy your seconds as they come....be wise, be good, be loving and time will seem endless.
Tip toe through the tulips, the buttercups, the roses, walk out in the garden and smile.
Friends love to get together and gab.....miss my 'gabby' friends.   Guess I'll have to Skype today and let them know....I'm humming...."thank you for being a friend.".

Good morning.    Pitch black outside, can't tell if it is going to be clear or cloudy; whatever.....will be the name for today.    The weekend is here.   The invitation to join my girls has to go by the wayside as I still have a head full of 'stuff' ;  a cold is one thing but a flu bug is something else again.  No fever, but lingering symptoms that could change in seconds.    Colds are one thing;  flu bugs are different and a prize pain in the you know what....but I am not one to complain....(and you know my daughters are laughing out loud) as I sit with my feet up, the television on, presently gabbing with you....a favorite thing to do.

How are you?  I hope well.   I hope you are having a change in your weather.  Some reports I got via telephone, storms, snow, ice and all those wonders of winter.   In my minds eye I can still see the huge snow walls up at the summit and the gorgeous snow scenes for miles around.  living in Nevada was always wonderful no matter what the season.  Good memories.  Son, Michael, is shoveling snow so I know he is busy...smile.

So, today, no matter what the weather, enjoy every second.    Find things to do that make you smile.   Find things to do that will make you feel pride in accomplishments.   Find a bit of laughter to brighten your day as you share time with those you like and love.    If you spread a little cheer it will come back to you a hundred fold;   try it and see how it works.     A good day to finish up the projects you started.  A good day to get ready for a restful Sunday, maybe doing a little visiting;  a little sharing;  a little caring;  all the things that make YOU the person you are...someone wonderful.  Go...be wonderful all day.....be YOU.  Hugs to all.

Its Morning!

Good morning early birds;   Hope your day is bright and beautiful just like YOU!!
A few eatable memories from way back when....Remember???  I do!!

So don't waste it, make it a day to remember!!

I woke up at three a.m., haven't done that in awhile....usually can go back to sleep but not this night, made coffee, looked for a puzzle piece, read a chapter or two but didn't retain much so quit, day dreamed a bit about what I might like to do today...a new day...a cold day....and the beginning of a weekend.   My, they do come around fast and furious.   For one thing, I am tired of the nasty flu germs, wish they'd go away .  I am sulking over a bad hairdo...yep, got it cut yesterday and I would say I  was "mowed" over...talk about short....if the hair is an inch long I'd be bragging.  Wonder why the hair dresser didn't understand the words "not to short"  just a clipping this week....well she clipped and clipped and clipped....'baldy' is insulting, but it fits the bill....oh well, it will grow out again..I hope...I think it will although it doesn't grow out as fast as it used to...come to think of it nothing comes back like it used to....nope, no details, or we'd be writing and reading for an hour or two....life goes on...bad haircuts grow out...or at least they used to.

I am going to leave you in peace while I sulk.    I am going to go and refill my coffee cup and fix a little breakfast.  I'd invite you over to join me but you are snoozing in, warm and toasty and content so I'll catch up with you another time.

Just be careful if you are planning a hair cut.   Don't forget to wear a heavy jacket if you are going out in the cold.  Stay away from anyone who looks like they have watering eyes as it may be a sign of a nasty head cold.   And....do not waste your time with crabby friends....wait until they  put a little sunshine back in their lives.    Look around and find some good things to do with your seconds today.....a good deed or two....a dozen hugs .....a treat.....lunch in or out with a good friend or even a family member you have not treated for awhile.    Be YOU, Be Good, kind, gentle and throw kernels of love around today....be a lover, you know you want that title added to your repertoire.  Take advantage of sharing and caring and add reasons to smile.   Hugs to all.

A.....Ahchoo!!

I am only a bird in a gilded cage...la, la...la......

Flu...yetch.....Flu....to nasty to give away....Flu.....You can have it, I don't want it..it's too much for me!!!!   down time...that's good;    hot toddies.....that is good.....aah soup, the elixir of life...and sweets make it all go down slow and easy.

I did go out yesterday and walked the thrift store and found a tiny black vase to cheer me up....smile.    Had lunch out at the Bowling Alley where the food is always very good.  Surprisingly so.    There is nothing like a good hamburger to put a smile on your face and help chase the flu bugs away.   The outing did more good than harm,it was good to exercise as I walked the aisles and stretched the legs as well as the mind.  I didn't talk to anyone so didn't share any of my germs, they are all mine...yetch...and more yetch!!

So it is flu weather.  It is that time of year.   I would suggest when you go shopping this week you add some juices, some soups, and a bottle of "hard" stuff to your cart so you will be prepared if the flu bug decides to visit your home.    You might as well make yourself comfortable and enjoy your down time.    There is something about a very tiny stemmed glass filled with the amber color of cognac that makes being bitten by the flu bug a bit more palatable.

Put your feet up, snuggle down and nap......take it from a pro...I am really getting the hang of this flu bug.  I'm off to feed a cold and starve a fever.

Be good, be kind, be gentle and be selfish and do not share the flu bug.    Save all those hugs for when you feel like your 'old' self....just avoid the flu as long as you can....stay healthy and happy.  Hugs to all.

Duh!!

Good morning.    There is nothing special to write about this morning;  yesterday was an in day with sniffles....no one stopped in but that is a good thing as I do not want to share the germs.    I picked up a cold bug and had a nice quiet down day watching television and doing the jig saw puzzle.    I had soup, and more soup and that is always a healer.   Chicken soup......it really makes one feel better.   Of course the chocolate ice cream didn't hurt.

So you get a break...no news is good news.   I just hope each and everyone of you are feeling really good and have no sign of the sniffles.    Teary eyes, runny nose, boxes of kleenex and no body loves me account of I have a cold.....poor me!!

I am off to sulk, watch the news, put my feet up and drink my morning coffee.   It is jet black outside, no cars on the move, no lights on in the hospital wing, guess that is what to expect at this time of the morning.   Wonder whose idea it was to have a wake up at four a.m.   .... a quiet time......think I'll tip toe out and have a refill, hunker down in my chair, watch some news and wait for a decent hour to move again.

Go...have yourself a great day doing what you love to do best.   I hope your weather is filled with sunshine , if not then enjoy a 'snow' day and shovel a path to your door where the coffee pot is on and the doughnuts are out and at the ready.   I'd love to be sharing time with you today.

Hugs to all.

Good Morning!!

I do not have a lovely bouquet for you this morning, but if I did, I would be sure to send  it on to you to make your day bright and beautiful...just like you.....

It is probably around four a.m., I have one eye open, have no special news or words this morning.  Coffee is hot and good, wish I had not eaten the left over crumbs of a coffee role, but  too late, the damage is done.  Yetch!!!   I am humming 'let it snow, let it snow' and it is not;  I just haven't opened the blinds to find out what it is doing;  too dark to tell anyway.    Negative this morning???Nah!!! Just not awake yet.

Yesterday was a quiet day.   I did get out to the dollar store with my granddaughter Erin who is a fantastic chauffeur.   We spent some time looking over get well cards as we have a friend down and out with a occurrence of an old problem.   Sometimes it is a funny card that will turn the tide;  it is just not fun to be down and not feeling good.    I hear the flu bug is around;  sure hope it skips us here at Ridgemont.    So far so good.

As I said, there is little to talk about this morning.   We did indulge to bulge as we ate up those wonderful banana pancakes that Erin specialize in.    I spent some time with Aggie who came to a visit and that was fun.  She is such a lovely lady.  She was sporting a new blouse her niece gave her;  one of those I love you presents that look so good.   We had a short discussion on how to handle a busy body who delights in being nosy; one of those who is never satisfied unless stirring the pot;  we all have one or two of those in our lives.   No cure for them...just best to let them roar and ignore them.    Isn't there some old saying about unhappy folks who delight in spreading gossip....can't think of it, but I am sure there are words that describe them to a 't'.   Best to ignore and get on with life.

So today I am plotting and planning a quiet day.   I have some reading to catch up on.  I have some writing to start . . . a novel on 'old age' ...ha,ha...ends before it begins.    Make today a good one, do something for someone you like so it turns into love....be kind, be gentle, be YOU.....share hugs that always makes you feel good.    I am not sure whether it is the giver or the receiver that benefits the most...experiment and find out.....be a sharer of uplifting words that will help a friend over a bad time today...we all have them...a little lift never hurts.   Share you with those you love and like.  Hugs to all.

Good Morning!!

Good Morning.  I am thinking of you and hoping your day is going to be one of the very best....as for me I am off to have some special pancakes with my granddaughter who is playing chef today.

The turnout for the Gallery show yesterday was a huge success considering the weather was really awful;  winter, blustery, wet, cold ...just being winter....and folks did venture out and enjoyed the new artist show.

So have yourself a great day doing all of the things you love to do.    Don't forget to add a good deed or two....and make sure you spread a little joy, a few hugs and some special treatment to those who are not having a good day.   Some have illnesses, some have sorrow, some have troubles and woes, so get busy and bend your knees this morning.   "Ask and you shall receive....."   ......"Not my will, but yours be done..."   faith, hope and a beautiful day awaits...go for it....Hugs to all.

Troubles and Woes!!

Well, I am not a red head,  I am not skinny,  but I have my cup of coffee right here and it is so good...should wake me up and I'll be able to converse with you....well, art least try.   It is early in the morning, probably around four a.m., I know, early bird or light sleeper or just plain dumb to get up this time of the morning......coffee makes it all worth while.
The candle is lit for all that are in need and for one reason or another many are in need.  It must be the winter weather, or the after shock of the holidays, or just plain bad luck the flu bug chooses to come around this  time of year.     I had a busy telephone day yesterday and caught up with a few of you.   It is always nice to hear the voice and it really doesn't help when you are missed....and you are.    Some had good news, some not so good and winter blahs have set in for some of you.   I hope this morning you are feeling a lot better.    Just don't over do, take it slow and easy and regroup.   Those little virus bugs have a way of keeping you down, so go with the flow and do a lot of nothing today.  Your first priority is to get well.

Here at Ridgemont it was very quiet.  Not many out and about.  It is cold.   The forecast was for snow but we never did get any.   I did get out for a short while and picked up a few things at the store.  I wanted some ice cream and was foolish to buy all chocolate ice cream, could have and should have chosen a mixture..wonder if I can have an ice cream party today instead of a tea party...wonder who likes all chocolate ice cream.    The TV was on with all the westerns, the puzzle didn't get much in the way of pieces;  they are all there but trying to find the ones that fit are a puzzle unto themselves.    I did enjoy a phone call or two.  One voice I didn't recognize, at first, as a flu bug has caught up with her and she sounded like the proverbial fog horn.    She said she didn't feel too bad, most was behind her, but she wouldn't wish it on any one.    This is flu season so take care of yourselves and rest and regroup so you will be well again.    A friend in Colorado was digging out of a snow storm and I thought it sounded like fun but she did not agree.    I think the storm was heading east so John and Jo are ;probably shoveling today.    I used to like to shovel snow, but then I was very young ...smile.

So....today is a new day, do something useful, caring, fun and shine.    Be a beacon of light;  be a glow in the dark, be YOU....be calm, be sweet, be useful and your day will be perfect..like you....I'm off for a refill, open the blinds and see what kind of a day I am in for.    There is a Gallery reception today and I get to help set up all the goodies.    A fun day, something to look forward to.   Wish you were coming....would love to give you a real hug...but verbal ones will have to do.  Hugs to all.

Sweet!

Good morning Doris...Your breakfast roles were delicious and I did save one for the girls but it wasn't easy.     A favorite lady, a sweetheart, a baker of renown, give her a bag of flour and she sends back a plate filled with delicious sweet breakfast roles..yum!!!
Words to live by.    Your seconds are important.    Your seconds make your world go around and around.   Your seconds are precious so don't waste even one of them.    Get up, show up, make today a winner as you share you with those you like and love.
You have the power . . .now use it!!

The weekend is here.    There will be some doings at the Gallery this weekend so you know where I'll be.    New artists, the Gallery will shine with beautiful art work and the folks will come and partake of a delightful feast of goodies which the artists themselves make.   Not only do they do excellent art work but are culinary experts as well.

Donaleo was a master chef last evening and prepared a special rice dish for us.  It is delicious.  I asked for left overs for today but Doris came bye with some of her delicious breakfast roles so I shared the left overs with her.  She doesn't get to try some of the fancy dishes I do and I know how much she enjoys eating something different than the industrial food of Ridgemont.   We had a delicious and delightful dinner last evening along with that flat bread that is so tasty.    Of course, the company was great and I would say we enjoyed our seconds together.    Erin and Donaleo are planning a ride out today and see a bit of the area.   The ladies gave them instructions to go to Bainbridge Island which brought up a tale for Christine to tell about her first visit there.   It seemed as though the island was touted as special and fun to visit.   When she toured the island it seemed to be a tight circle as she kept coming back to a small store and house , getting no where in a hurry...after several tries they stopped in at the store and asked directions and finally found their way around the island and back to the ferry and home.    I have not been there as yet...wonder if that casino at the turn corner is the reason for that...smile.

I hope you are having good weather, some fine dining, enjoying family and friends.   I hope your weekend is productive and you find places to go and things to do.  A yard sale or two would be fun.   I would think with this cold spell there wont be many yard sales today.    'Baby, its cold outside"...well it is winter....snow would be good...especially if your inside looking out...smile.   Shoveling is fun....a ride down a hill on a sled would be good.  Or finding an easy a chair and a good book would be second best....or first???? smile.....your preference.   GO!!!  Enjoy the day. Hugs to all.

Good Morning!

My special company yesterday...aah!!!
Not just somewhere but in a coffee can with a slit in the top....works very well and handy.
Breakfast time....coffee is gone, so off for a refill. . . wish I had a big fat jelly doughnut to go with it...oh well, peanut butter toast isn't all bad.....where is that chef when you need one....ham and eggs would taste good....oh well.....

A new day, yesterday flew bye, the kids stopped in for a visit and the snow didn't come, just a lot of cold air , arctic air, the kind that chills the bone.  It is winter!!  smile!!!

We had a good visit.  I caught up with a lot of what they have been doing and the hopes for the future with tales of where they hope to travel.    Half the fun is anticipation, the other half is getting there.   They are hard workers.  They have dreams.  They are young.  and I wish I was a rich aunt who could send them off while they are young and full of dreams.   I give them credit for having dreams and working towards fulfilling them.   Smart kids, and have the desire to grow, to learn, to enjoy life as it comes...as I said, smart kids. Loved my visit with them, offered them treats but they were saving their appetite for the left overs at home.    I don't blame them as Pat had made one of those meals that has never ending flavor and you want a little more...more..

It was quiet here at Ridgemont yesterday.   Our weather has been much too cold to venture out for walks.  Most are exercising in and our new lady has started some classes on Thursday mornings.   Laundry day for me today so I will make a half dozen trips up and down the hall way. My apartment is at one end, the laundry room at the other ...walking is good.

So, I wish you a 'good' day with strong health and a bit of wealth, some fun and games and a little company to keep you content.     Don't forget, one good deed today.    Don't forget someone is waiting to hear from YOU.....Be good, be kind, be gentle, be YOU!!!   Hugs to all.

Wake UP!!

And It WILL !!!
Our Visitors....Erin and Donaleo are here....Yeah!!!!
Okay, enough!! Send those pieces back.
Spring will come..honest....be patient!!

Dark and cold out there in the parking lot.  Nothing moving this morning.    Well, I am up, moving, um...now that is a different story.     Coffee is good, should kick in soon and I'll wake up and tell you all about a lovely lasagna dinner with a special home made cake for desert.  Such fun to sit with Erin and Donaleo, Christine, Pat and even Emma tried to get in on the act.    Pat makes the best salads, and her lasagna was absolutely delicious.   I do go for that crusty bread  and there is no such thing as left overs.    Erin and Donaleo are home for a short while as they try to decide what road to travel next.  Japan has been mentioned, teaching possibly, so the next chapter is still a mystery but they are working on solving it.    We would just as soon keep them here for awhile.   Our world becomes a brighter place.

It is cold up here in the northwest.   Snow on the mountains but nothing down here int he city.  The views are beautiful to see.    Lovely sunsets.   Lovely scenes and my camera is in need of a walk about.    If I only remembered it when I left the apartment, not a long time after ...some folks think before leaving home...I seem to think after....could it be old age?   Nah, just carelessness on my part;  don't think before I leave.   Maybe I'll do better this week and get some pictures.

So today, be of good cheer....do something wonderful for those you like and love.    The good deed that you think about but are a little slow on the uptake...today is a good day for a surprise for someone you love.    Be generous to a fault......be loving as only you can be......be the sunshine creeping into the shadows and bring love and laughter to those you know and love;  even a stranger would and could be touched by a little of your 'sunshine'....be bright, be good, have a fun day.  Leave the old grump behind closed doors;  get out there and live a little.  Hugs to all.

Good Morning!!!!

I am about to take a ride on my broom....thought you might like to come along!!! Good morning.  I've been awake for hours,  why?   Who k...
