Tulips

Doris is waiting for the rest of us and the bus. . . we are going to visit tulip country.

Lyle the brave and only male to join us for the trek to tulip land.

Betty talks with her hands and she is never without her knitting needles.  She is working on socks, both at the same time.

the sky was absolutely filled with picture clouds.

We are seeing the tall buildings in Seattle

Lots of water, boats and 'stuff' going on in Seattle

Our wonderful bus driver, Betty and Lyle at the restaurant  table for their orders to come up.

Margaret, Carolyn, and Lil are patiently waiting for their food.

A huge blueberry patch along the road to tulip land.

tulips every where  especially in the front yards of folks who live in the area.  Some fancy groupings, some spread out and all very colorful and beautiful.

Here are a few white and yellow and a tinge of orange.

More land, so much of this all over this area,  fields, meadows, large areas without a plant on them.   Maybe they take turns resting the land.  Haven't read up on it so really don't know.  There has t be a reason for so many empty fields.

One of the special areas where the folks enter to get to the gift shop.   it is filled with lovely tulips, real ones, and so many beautiful cups and plates with the tulip designs and colors.

The last small patch out in the parking lot of the shop.   They were not all open and they were lovely.

As for the trip, long, very long, through super highways with traffic you would not believe.   Bumper to bumper traffic in all lanes and all going like ants to an ant hill.   It was over three hours before we had our first stop for breakfast;  more like lunch. . . the restaurant waitress did a great job seating all of us unexpected eaters and is a pro as she had the food to us before we could finish our first cup of coffee.    I had a waffle with strawberries and pushed the crème aside;;  it was so tasty and I have been wanting one.  Most had breakfast eggs and ham and enjoyed every bite.   We went on from the restaurant for many more miles, over highways with empty fields that were huge.   Two lane roads and some off site ditches and water areas which must be part of the process of growing tulips.   Looks like some areas were left empty while others had row after row of new tulips.   The colors are amazing.  You see the color long before you see the actual field of flowers.   The yellow rows look like sunshine until you get up close and the reds, purples are striking.    The area we stopped in charges to go in to see the tulips so we just went along the roads until we found a field and went up the road and took a peek.   We found a place with a shop and looked but prices were a bit more than high.   There were a lot of visitors, much more than we expected.  It must be the season.   I am very happy I made the trip, one I would not repeat as the highway driving is really unbelievable.   How the folks here in the North West go day after day in the crowded lanes is beyond me...not my cup of tea....I'd prefer my little town and walk where I want to go.    Oh my , Brookings....how much I miss it.

We arrived back here at Ridgemont at five thirty, checked the mail on the way in and not even a catalog;   got up to my apartment, kicked off the shoes, fixed my hungry self a snack and sat down here at the computer.   I am glad the pictures came out as I had fiddled with the camera and was afraid it wouldn't work.    I am so dense when it comes to 'things' that need attention.  I used to....ha,ha, you have heard that often these days.   I am in for the rest of today.  The ladies are over at the gallery painting rocks but I begged off.  I'll help them finish up before the rest of the month is over.    By the way, they are coming out really good.     The next event, after this one is to have the theme of Winnie the Pooh, so if you have any clever ideas, send them on.

Find a tulip patch to visit in your neck of the woods.    Go, enjoy, they really are beautiful.    Bring a bunch home;  buy an extra and share with someone you like and love.    The ladies found a bakery and bought pie to eat when they got home...maybe you can find one in your area.    I had a cookie, a whole pie would have been way too much for me...unless of course you find a way to stop by and I'll share...off, I go, going to be lazy for the rest of tonight.

This is the morning blog which I'll post in the morning.  I wanted to get the pictures and words to you before I forgot.
Be good......be calm.....be sweet.....be a tulip and glow!!  Hugs to all.
