A lovely cottage to spend vacation time in. Love the walk way . . . a lovely garden path to walk along.
A Sunday afternoon at Sydney Gallery where the two old geezers were showing their work. One, an oldster of late eighties, showed a love of pastels. His paintings were awesome and soft and beautiful. The other , the lover of the sea with pictures showing the sea in various moods , some with thunderous waves we have often watched on a stormy day in Brookings, Oregon. I talked about it yesterday, but it worth another word or two. Both men must have felt honored to have a large group of town folks come in and enjoy their work. One of the seascapes painted on three separate canvases was sold. The 'spread' was set out on a lovely; green tablecloth, with coffee and punch and a variety of all finger foods to please any and all appetites. But the folks that came were not only out for a good time, they were more than willing to visit and make new friendships. It was a delight to stand and hold conversations about the art work itself and even news of family and friends as they wanted to welcome you to their inner circle. I always enjoy spending time with Sally who is president of the gallery. We find a lot to laugh about. I am beginning to recognize some of the ladies who help keep the Gallery in the news. Bobby was there and she is one of the lovely ladies who never misses a chance to make an event successful, in fact, she is going to chair the upcoming June tea and the board has come up with a Winnie the Pooh theme which should be fun. Maybe we will get to help with some of the ideas for decorating the tables. I met a lady named Sharon and her husband John who were warm and welcoming. They have a son with M.S. which channeled our conversation to the hope a cure will be found for this insidious disease. I met a younger spunky lady named D. . . not Donna or Debra but "D" probably Delores or Delilah, she is not telling. A fun lady with a ready smile and actually glad to make new friends. Two ladies I'd like to meet again and probably will as they do participate in the activities at the gallery. Pat takes over the kitchen and I helped a couple of ladies set up the table with the trays of food that are impossible not to sample. I do volunteer to help in the kitchen but it is very small and three is a crowd. I am slow to move without the cane so after I help get the main table all set, then I make one stab at helping in the kitchen but soon learn that I am more in the way so I disappear and find a comfortable seat and someone to converse with. I must be familiar now as several 'ignore' me so I am one of 'them'. A good thing. Yes, I do enjoy the art receptions. There will be another the first of next month and it is going to be a special one. Meanwhile a new week is starting and on Wednesday I will miss the rock painting party as we , here in Ridgemont, are going to the tulip fields which I understand is a long day trip away complete with a ferry ride. Not sure where but hear it is a fantastic trip as well as colorful and beautiful so I have something to look forward to. So, I hope you had a special Sunday and did something with someone you like and love. I hope you made your seconds memorable. I hope that you plot and plan to make someone happy you are in their lives. I know I am happy you are in mine and I thank you for taking time out to read my blog every day. I wish I had lots of tales to tell that would set your minds and hearts sing, but at this age I am lucky I can spin any kind of a tale. What is that song...."memories are made of this....'" so keep; busy making memories and be sure you write them down for your family and friends. Give them a reason to be happy to have a friend like YOU. You know the drill...ready go....be kind, be gentle, be good, be a little bad, but not too bad. Be a lover...Be a hugger...Be YOU. Hugs to all.
