This handsome young man is Caleb and he is hearing the noise of the engine and the uplift of his first plane ride. I wonder what he thought of it. Take off is always exciting. What is that song? "Shake, rattle and roll"...I bet he is ready for many plane rides now.
Well, here it is Friday again. The squalls are in attendance as we postpone going off as the rain drops dance on the streets and the wind makes noises promising to uproot the trees, then it clears only to repeat itself over and over. I gather this is the beginning of the spring weather, or the end of the winter weather . . . whatever, there is little we can do with weather, only accept it as it comes and make the best of it. Saying that does not make sunshine on a rainy day, but, dancing in the rain or even a walk in the rain always feels good. All you need is weather gear....'these boots are made for walking'....smile. Back in Gold Beach, Jock has been keeping busy with his fishing and hunting ; and. . . he gave his annual shooting class. He got his report card and he got straight A''s, that's for accolades, many strong marks for being the best 'professor' in town. He knows his stuff. Congratulations on doing a superb job Quiet at Ridgemont, one of the new ladies is willing to teach the 'train' game and had a few takers. I used to play that with a few friends back in Brookings some years ago. I don't think I remember all the rules anymore. I am not much of a game player, rather read a good book and I have one in hand now. Janet Leigh , the actress, is taking a hand in telling a story and I am betting there is a bit of truth to the trials and tribulations of Hollywood history. It is called "House of Destiny: in case you are interested in a 'different' read. Vinnie made it and we read for a short while. One of our new ladies sat in and enjoyed hearing a bit about World War II and we had a short discussion on what we did remember of those days ...some seventy years ago.....teenagers....unbelievable how little we paid attention to what was going on in our world until our friends started to go off to war. The impact was great when we lost one, life was never the same and war took on a meaning all its own. Reading about the war brings back memories of how much we learned in a hurry about how fast our lives could and did change. the candle stays lit for those who lost their lives then and for those who lose their lives now, as war still rears its ugly head. Join me and light a candle when you go bye your church. Fire up a light that will shine in remembrance of those we lost. So today, hunker down with a good book if you can. You may be to busy to hunker down; just keep it in mind when you do have the time. Meanwhile, you have a few chores to do, a few hugs to dole out and some kind words to those you love and like. Start with a phone call to someone housebound. Put a smile in your voice and let them know how important they are to YOU. Do a bit of shopping for the weekend and plan a meatloaf dinner...how long has it been since you made one....probably longer than you think. Don't forget a baked potato and all the trimmings. Hubbard squash is tasty; or, choose the vegetable you love best. Enjoy a good homemade dinner and for heavens sake...kiss the cook. Hugs to all. |
