Good Morning

Here is where we ride out on one of the two lane highways and buy our produce, along with other things like jams and jellies; special candies; and right now they have some special apples on sale.  they just reopened and we will be riding out there to pick out some vegetables for our St. Patrick's Day dinner.    It's coming up soon.    Corn beef and cabbage , along with potatoes, turnip, onions, carrots and don't forget a bit of vinegar in your cooking water....ah, a favorite dinner.

A new portrait by my favorite artist, Sharon Guinn of Gold Beach.   This young lady is fantastic and she really loves to paint Indians.

Saturday, just had left over cold pizza for my breakfast, something I very rarely do, but it had sausage on it and it is breakfast time so why not recapture the taste of last nights treat . . . probably the fact it creates indigestion for the morning...cold pizza is touted as delicious by some folks I know. . . well, I don't think so and will remind myself of that fact once the burping session is over.  Do I know better?   Yes, I do.  Do I listen to me?  No, I don't.   Back to my dropped egg on toast or peanut butter toast with my coffee.   Being to lazy to cook up a breakfast has a price to pay.

I had a wonderful e mail letter yesterday from a lovely lady who is young in heart and an octogenarian who never lets a day go by that she doesn't do a good deed .  She is slowly but surely taking one step at a time to get back into her world after the devastating loss of her partner in life.    A road we have to travel and an extremely difficult one.    It takes time to realize life is for the living and we have to get on  with it.   Each step taken, brings us back to the realization that life goes on and we have a duty to live it.    It takes time to find a new path in life and becoming active and living life is the cure all. Most of all it takes courage and she has a lot of that.   It doesn't mean we forget the partner who was called;  it means the memories shared are there for the asking.    My friend is volunteering , sharing her talents with those in need.   She is walking the lovely pathways communing with nature and getting back in her groove.    She is planning to pack her bag and go on a trip this year;  I'd love to go and carry her bags...smile....yes, a lovely lady I am very proud of and very happy she shares some time with me.

Here at Ridgemont , the activity room is right by my apartment door so I can't get away with anything.   I had my music on, a disc playing some of the old tunes I love to sing along with.  I keep it low.   I hum a lot...but not loud, yet ne of the ladies told me they could hear me singing....thin walls, I guess.     I am enjoying the disc I have and want to add to my collection.  Yesterday, while walking the Walmart aisles, I found the music area and looked for a Willie Nelson disc only to find it cost fifteen dollars.....no way....Willie is wonderful but not at that price.    I'll have to go to the thrift store and see what I can find.     I wish I had kept the discs I had . . .oh well live and learn, I'll have to rebuild my collection of favorites  so I can sing out loud.

No Vinnie, so no read.   But, Don was up for a visit and he looks thinner than ever.    Loneliness   has a way of seeping into ones bones.    He was happy to be with his table partners and enjoyed his lunch.   He had to go back to the hospital wing but knows his friend will go and rescue him again.   We haven't heard if he will be moved to one of the other buildings close by.  One surprise yesterday was seeing a lady I thought must have moved away as no one mentioned her, saw her, or heard from her and I wondered where she went as she used to sit with us .   She fell, broke her arm, spent more time at her daughters but is now coming back to her apartment .  I, for one, am glad she is no longer among the missing.

So today, think about what you have to do for you to become alive, moving and doing.   Don't just sit in a corner moping.  Get up and move.   There are good deeds in need of doing.  There are folks who have needs and one big one is missing YOU in their lives.    It only takes a few seconds of your time to stop and think about what it is you can do to make some one person you love and like smile today.   A call, a drop in visit, a surprise left at the door, nothing fancy, just an I love you tiny package that makes their day brighter.    It only takes a second to shine...so shine!!!   Hugs to all.
