Week End

Lake Tahoe and The Sierras.....a nice place to be on a Sunday morning even through a picture.   I'd like to actually be up there enjoying all the sights and sounds .
A thistle is really a thing of beauty.
A truism.   One can never have enough books.

Saturday turned out to be an eventful day as I was invited to go with Christine to the gallery where she was to put in a few hours and catch up with a few projects she has going.   We got there early, opened the door and the rest of the day was one of the busiest we have had in awhile.   People were out and about looking for places to go and things to do and an open door is a sure invitation to a few surprises.  Some of the folks had not been in the gallery before and found it to be a good stop on a Saturday.   The new show of our talented artists has had rave reviews.   I had more inventory work to do so was busy and that is what I wanted to be.   Being useful has its own merits.    One cannot be bored if one has jobs to do.    Inventory is interesting and you can learn a lot about the artists and the work they do.   I've said it before, and it is worth another word or two about the talent we have here in Port Orchard.    Not only painters but crafts people who make lovely jewelry and special cards as well as products from clay that they work up with their talented hands.    The gallery looked inviting yesterday and the open door said it all.  We had an open door until well after closing time and I am betting we could have stayed open another hour and more folks would have been by to see the latest 'show'.     Christine was already late for a dinner date so we had to close up with a promise to go back today and finish some of the started projects.    I have said it before, and it bears repeating, if you have not been to your local gallery for awhile, take time out and go and visit and see the great work artists do.    Some people are actually born with a talent for painting beautiful pictures bringing 'life' to a blank canvas.   Go..see for yourselves.

It is Sunday, a day of rest.    We should keep it that way.    Work is good for you, but rest is better for the mind and the body.   It deserves some 'care' and it will continue to be the best working machine you own.    So make your Sunday special; say your prayers at home or in church, your choice.    I remember Sundays in Rhode Island when I had Hobo and Minnie Mouse, our favorite grandparents, as next door neighbors.   Hobo would cook up some of his famous pancakes and crisp bacon and sausages.   The telephone would ring and Minnie would say that breakfast was ready and hurry over.    It didn't take long to hop the fence and get there.    Years later I did a lot of Sunday cooking and invited co workers over to have breakfast on the porch of the little house I rented in Carson City, Nevada.    The porch was just the right size to circle around, read tidbits from the newspaper and discuss the events of the day.    Sunday could be called 'memory day' as we sit and think back on some of the life experiences we have had and the meals we devoured over all that time.    Good food, good company. . . a wow time.  It doesn't have to be a 'thing' of the past;  all you have to do is invite a neighbor or two, some friends, and get out there in that big kitchen of yours and cook up a tasty tidbit or two and you will have one of your best Sunday mornings....try it, and I bet it will become a habit.

So today is a good day to start, call a family member, a friend or two, and cook up a tasty breakfast.  If you have a porch, use it, no chairs needed.    Hunker down and relax, someone will be glad to give you a hand up.    Take time out to do nothing but enjoy each other and make your Sunday special....like YOU....Hugs to all.
Oh....be good, be kind, be gentle . . . be YOU.
