The Gorge

The Oregon Sea Stacks are always a beautiful sight to see.
I spent a year in Portland some years back and this was one place I used to love to visit.   I was so taken with the area that I tried painting this scene and did a pretty good job of it.   I think I still have the painting but never framed it.    The Columbia River gorge.

My mind is running rampant with all kinds of ideas of what to write this morning, yet the spirit hovers between words of complaint to words of wisdom and a few off beat thoughts leading nowhere.  I have been writing the blog for over eight years now and as I add a new year, I find that our lives have a way of repeating themselves.    The seasons come and go and our life style right along with it.   We have days of sheer joy and some that are days we never want to repeat again.  Yes, life goes on, second by second and it is play of words and deeds that seem endless.    My friend Helen and I go back some thirty years or more and yesterday she picked up the telephone and called me for one of our sessions.   We share family news and I love to hear all about her grandchildren and great grandchildren;  a family alive with 'living' which sometimes creates a tiny bit of wishful thinking .   Life as she and I knew it was far different than the style of today.  Each generation brings change .  We oldsters wither on the vine while the new generation brings about change . . . just like we did as we came along. . . yet we find it awesome to accept the so call changing of the guard.   A lifestyle that changes with each generation as each one learns how to adapt to living in a world of constant changes.     We know that history repeats itself, yet we continue down a path as if history does not repeat itself.  We never seem to learn.

Do I dare bring politics into the fray . . . I better not...smile.

I think I had better quit while I am ahead.    The sun is shining, it is going to be a beautiful day and Jock is on the road to visit Patricia.    We will have a chance to share some time with him and treat him to an omelet or two.    He is bringing some fresh caught salmon to grill for us.   He is a master chef believe me.

So today invite a friend over and share something good to eat.    Take time out to visit and find out what is going on in your lives.    Don't forget your good deed for today.  Someone is in need of a hug.    One spark from you and their world will light up and it wont do yours any harm either.    A little love goes a long way.    So today be a 'charmer' and charm . . . you are so good at it.   Hugs to all.
