Not thought of a a beautiful bird but you have to take a good look and you will find kind eyes, something to 'crow' about.
Here it is the very first day of the month of June. Brides month. No new brides around here; the ladies have long been spoken for and delight in telling stories of their special day. Some were war brides, now that goes back over seventy years. Their history makes good tales to tell and many stayed right where they were 'planted' while some of us were true vagabonds. Some have traditional tales to tell with little or no change in their tales. Some , like me, had to have a little adventure and take a long hike along a beach with the wedding party in tow. We had no idea the bus did not run after midnight and our celebrating was far from over. War years, shortages, it all fit together. A five mile hike on your wedding night is something to brag about and when a driver came along and picked up this ragged bunch , he looked at the Marine, in the lead, and said he knew that Marines were dumb, but not that dumb. . . all taken in good spirit. Duty calls, no honeymoon, but a life time of travels had yet to come. A life time of tales both funny and sweet; a little slice of life. The month of June does bring on wedding memories. I wonder what is considered traditional today. Quiet prevails. Vinnie showed for his reading but didn't want to listen to some of the tales being told about the events in World War II that were horrendous and told of the demise of millions of Jewish people . . . The Holocaust......the slaughter ....a tale that has no end. I am glad we are nearing the end of this tale. I hope to find something more uplifting to read in the future. History can be a horror story and in many eras it was. At this moment there is stillness in the air. Patricia has already been over to say hello as she is on her way to grocery shop. Much to early for me to put on my shoes and we were just shopping the other day. She is expecting Jock in tomorrow as he is starting out today for the long drive up here. We are excited about his visit and plan a few cookouts. He is a master chef, in his own right, and we have plans for his talents. He always brings his 'caught' with him so we will have a fish feast. He is bringing some of his blueberries as well, blueberry pie and ice cream for desert. . . we would share if you were here, but knowing you can't come at this time, we will be devouring your piece and think about you. smile. So today, welcome a friend for a visit and enjoy each others company. Catch up and enjoy your time together. It is always to short, but be thankful for any time you can share. What would be great is to have a friends reunion. I think we should start one up. A half way meeting point, hours to spend sharing and caring. I'd like that. The logistics would be tough but think of the fun it would be if we could pull something like that off. We will have to settle for words. . . good words that spread a bit of love your way. Yep, YOU are so easy to love. Go, have yourself a great day, begin your week with smiles and end it the same way. Take time to share YOU with those you love and like. Be a feather today and float in the air, wafting in a breeze sharing love and like all over the place as you close in with a bear hug or two. Go for it. Hugs to all. |
