Interesting , a good thing scotch doesn't come in larger bottles. I wonder if the avid golfer carries a bottle of scotch with him on the course. I knew a few who would think that was the best idea they ever heard of.
The week is flying bye, much too fast to suit me as the two sons are such good company and such fun to have around. Yesterday we took a ride to the Naval Base where the undersea museum is housed in a beautiful brick building. Outside in the entrance yard there are real submersibles , huge with a history to them. There are two men who are the docents waiting inside the door with a brochure and some words of greeting. The museum is well done, huge, and no matter how often you visit, there is always something new and different. Several huge rooms of Navy artifacts with movies and stories about the submarines, especially the history on two that were lost. Sad tales of so many lives lost to the sea. We took our time and watched some of the small movies relating to life aboard a submarine especially through the eyes of a brand new recruit. The last place to visit , of course, is the gift shop and I had a short discussion with the clerk about their new rule. There is a big sign out front in the parking area that tells you that you cannot take your purse inside, bags and all that good stuff....so leave it in your locked car..so when you visit the gift shop, how are you to buy anything without your purse and the money or cards you may hold. It doesn't make sense. She agreed and said she was going to join my argument and tell her boss when he came. John said he would pay for anything I might want to buy, but how many folks come with someone who are prepared to spend . I suppose one could put their wallet in a pocket of a jacket or sweater, but you would have to have deep pockets to take care of the check book or a wallet filled with credit cards. I still think they could come up with a better idea in todays modern world .
My counter is filled with beautiful cards for Mother's Day and Birthday. Thank each and everyone who took time out to greet me with such loving wishes. I am a lucky lady. Those favorite chocolate marshmallow cookies I like but don't often buy as they are priced much to high, were a surprise from son Michael. He used to buy them for me when I was Carson City. They sure didn't last long and I polished them off for breakfast this morning....cookies are tasty for breakfast. Calories don't count when it is a gift of love. Son John was out in the kitchen helping Patricia fix our dinner. We all pitch in but only two allowed near the kitchen work space. Something about to many cooks.....well it doesn't take many to cook up a few hot dogs and some of those delicious molasses beans . A Saturday night fare for many years, but nothing says you can't have them any time the taste buds roar for them. the corn on the cob cooked on the grill was pretty tasty. Eating is such a good habit...smile. So today, get out your grill and think hot dogs, make sure you have the right kind of mustard. We brought the ladies home some samples from the Cheese Factory in Oregon , which were very tasty. Invite family and friends over and have a fun time swapping tales and eating all that good stuff reminiscent of Saturday night fare for years. Beans, hotdogs, buns, ketchup, mustard, a salad if you like, an of course hot apple pie with a dab of ice cream. Doesn't that make your taste buds sit up and take notice? If it doesn't, then fix your outdoor grill with your favorite food and indulge to bulge. Take time to talk between bites, and be good, be kind, be gentle. . . be cheerful, warm, fuzzy and funny.....be a teddy bear...ah, go ahead, everyone loves a teddy bear. To me you are all teddy bears who reach out and make my day bright and beautiful. Thank you for the kind words, and the verbal hugs. Hugs to all.
