Bridges

You have to be sure footed to cross this bridge on a daily basis.   Looks pretty rickety to me.    I'll look, you go.

wonder what it is like when the wind is up.    Not for the weak at heart.

I can understand why there is no foot traffic.

There is no way I'd set foot on this one.    Think what an amazing job the builders of this bridge imagined and brought to life.   I am a sissy, it would have to have hand rails and someone to push me on to it.    It is scary.

Talk about crossing bridges in life.   We all have crossed many in our day and all of the above remind us just how precarious life can be.   It takes a lot of bravery to cross a bridge that is shaking in the wind and an immense amount of courage to keep going when the footpath is narrow and the pathway unsteady.    The bridges remind us that no pathway is always safe and secure.   It takes faith in yourself, one step at a time to cross any and all bridges in life.  We honor the bridge builders as they make a pathway across a huge chasm seem so much easier than it really is.    Much like taking the bull by the horns and solving hard problems in daily life.    We need bridges.

Patricia's message this morning was that she was heading home from her vacation.  She has been wined and dined and spent time with old friends and has had some needed down time.    After months of going through remodeling and all the 'stuff' that goes with it, she needed a respite, a time to have  some fun and enjoy time away.   I think she should have gone while the mess was on going but then who would be there to make sure the work was done and done right.   One of those damned if you do and damned if you don't times in life.    Anyway she has been having a good time and stopped off at all of our old favorite haunts.    I am not sure Emma will be happy to leave her doggy friends.  She has been having a great time swimming in the river and chasing Gunner around.    I don't know about Joey, getting a little old for all that gallivanting, but I am sure he wasn't far from catching a ball or two.   Jock has been cooking up a storm;   imagine blueberry pie right out of the oven, bet it had a big blob of ice cream on it.

I am off grocery shopping today, maybe I'll buy one of those Marie Calendar razzle dazzle pies and some ice cream and celebrate Pat's return.. . . a good idea. . . and a tasty one at that.     I have my list ready so all I have to do is finish up the blog, put my shoes on and go out the door.

So put your shoes on, and get ready to go shopping.    Don't leave your list on the counter, take it with you.    If you haven't tried the deli kale salad, do,, it is really very good and healthy.    I gave up buying salad makings as they do not last and it is a waste of food and money.   I find that the deli salads are healthy and tasty.  I have had to change my buying habits as nothing lasts more than a day or two.  Not sure if it is the quality of the foods anymore or not having someone to share with.

I did not get my steak last night but did get some Mexican salad with fish that was tiny and very tasty.    We are looking for a good steak place, but I think it will be buying a steak and cooking it on Pat's grill.    The prices in the restaurants for steak are outrageous.   You would think you were getting a cow.    Probably cheaper in the long run.

So today, treat yourself to a special dinner you have been wanting to have.    The taste buds are always howling for something good, and only you know what you like best.     A treat because you deserve one. . . go for it.

Be good, be kind, be gentle.    Think about someone other than yourself today.    Share YOU with those you like and love.   Find a good reason to be generous with your time;  a few golden moments with a belly laugh or two and you will be as good as new.    Enjoy the change in the weather and go for a walk in the sunshine.    If you are lucky enough to have a few rain drops, go out anyway, you wont melt.    Make sure that you enjoy your seconds today doing what you love to do best.   Don't forget the bear hugs, one of life's luxuries.   Hugs to all.
