Wind

When you wear a kilt you have to expect the flying of the clan colors.

A Brookings lady, a dear person who has the face of a pixie and the love of life and laughter.  Miriam is a true believe in life is for the living and she does a tremendous job of it.    Active in her church and community;  treats friends like family as treasures and we all think the world of her.

I hope you can read the small print as it is hilarious.    What a lady!!!   I think I'll try her method of living long....who knows what kind of toxics are in water.

Hump Day. . . midweek. . . and the stormy weather remains.    I am waiting for it to dry up and have some sunshine so I can get out and walk to the corner and back.   The exercise keeps the legs moving but the fresh air and sunshine makes the mind come alive.    I love rain, don't get me wrong, but enough is enough....sunshine is needed and necessary to chase the cobwebs away, saying nothing about the vitamin D we need to keep our bodies healthy.

A very quiet day here at Ridgemont.    Jan was back after a bout with bronchitis and still was not feeling up to par. She has new medication so hopefully that will help her to get over the coughing spells.   I had some "Fishermen Cough Drops" in my basket so was prepared to help.  She doesn't like the taste of them but she did admit they do a good job.   Vinnie showed up for a read and has a way of finding anything and everything to  look for from a misplaced eyebrow hair to a bump or bruise.  He started yesterday but 'the look' stopped him in his tracks and he shut up.   We got in a few more chapters and still have a way to go.    How he loves to relive history.    His day started with dropping his desert;  ended with losing his keys;   I think he decided a nap was best and we didn't hear from him the rest of the day.

I have a bad habit of starting something to cook for breakfast and get busy with the blog and forget it;  many a burned offering, but not this morning as I made steel oats with pecans, raisons and brown sugar...yum!!!!   And I am really not an oatmeal lover, but this combination is really special and delicious.   So I rescued my oatmeal and ate it all up. I would have shared if you were here and not way off there.

So, go out in your kitchen and cook up some steel oats and add some brown sugar and whatever else you like.    Take time to digest it slowly and savor the flavors.    Now for a refill of my hot coffee and I'll be set for the day.   Well at least until lunch time.   Food is fuel, energy, and hopefully we all have good appetites.  Some of the folks here have lost theirs and they are almost skeletal.   When you do not eat the body weakens as does your ability to move, so be an eater...find the foods you love the best and enjoy them.   The secret of success is to eat lightly, a bit of everything, then you do not have cravings and you do not gain.  So be choosy.    Be a chef today and cook up something you really enjoy.  But...not before you perform a good deed or two.    Make someone smile.    Give out a big bear hug or two and a touch of your lips is like the early morning dew that makes the flowers bloom.   So bloom.   Hugs to all.
AND the end of Andy Rooney's words
22. I've learned that opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.
23. I've learned that when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
24.I've learned that I wish I could have told my Mom that I love her one more time before she passed away.
25.  I've learned one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.
26.  I've learned That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
27.  I've learned that when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist you're hooked for life.
28.  I have learned that everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.
29. I've learned that the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

I hope you enjoyed Andy Rooney, a man of words, incite and smart.
