A truism . . .what is that old adage?   'one for the money;  two for the show; three to get ready and four.....YOU GO....staggering and probably singing as loud as you can ....keys, what keys?   Door...what door?

Our friend, Angie, is delighted with her first orchid that she has grown...a wow....beautiful  and it has a name . . . Phalatenopsis Orchid.

The Hubel Telescope out there in space took this picture of our earth enveloped in clouds.    Now that is a 'wow' picture.

"A rose by any other name..."    Looks like one doesn't it I may have put it on before, but a second peek can't hurt.

"Two little love birds sitting in a tree...... Is that Mother bird looking on?    She does not look pleased.

It was a quiet Monday, had to go grocery shopping and pick up some of the staples I was out of and of course some ice cream.  I haven't had any in some time and my excuse is that I am not a milk drinker and I do have to have some milk in my diet and ice cream fits the bill.    I added a few other extra tasty treats, one a Quinoa salad from the deli which is wonderful and it is healthy.   Of course adding some other treats was necessary, after all you cannot 'live by bread alone."  Pat bought some of those necessary vegetables for the St. Pat's dinner coming up this Thursday.  I hope you are prepared and plan to have that corn beef and cabbage with carrots, potatoes, turnips both yellow and white.   Irish Soda bread takes place of desert;  but then I do have some ice cream...smile.....if there is any left by  Thursday.  So plan to be Irish for the day and make your Irish eyes smile.    "When Irish eyes are smiling, sure its like a morn in Spring;  in the lilt of Irish laughter you can hear the angels sing.  When Irish hearts are happy, all the world is bright and gay . . . when Irish eyes are smiling it will steal your hear away"......la, la, la,...There was a special on PBS the other night with five young Irish lads with tenor voices that would make the angels weep.  They sang a few of the old tunes but added a few I had not heard before .   It was truly a great show , very entertaining and well done.

Here at Ridgemont, quiet prevails.    A lady, waiting for a ride down in the foyer yesterday, tells me that the weather in Washington is 'wet' in all seasons so if you wait  for a clear day then you  will never go out.   I guess I'll have to invest in a umbrella but then along with the 'wet' comes wind and it does blow strong and wild.    So a little rain is not going to hurt me; a good thing I love rain and wind especially if I' m in looking out.   Smile!!

Vinnie showed up and we read for an hour.  Vinnie is a no show a lot so we may not get this book finished until Christmas.   He is already wondering what we will read next.   I didn't have the heart to tell him it would not be a story about World War II.   Right now we are at the beginning of the holocaust and it is an ugly tale of mans inhumanity to man.    The world aware and turned a blind eye.    We hear 'history has a way of repeating itself:  It has many times over the past seventy odd years.   We saw pictures on the television of thousands of misplaced persons , then silence.   where did they go?  Why aren't we hearing more?   Remember the pictures of the misplaced children that were horror stories for days and now silence.   Strange how news has a way of disappearing.

I haven't been asked, but if someone wanted to know how I felt about senior residences they would be in for a surprise as I really think they are much more harmful to the human soul than anything else that could be devised.    What is missing is life....the voices of the young.  The antics of the little ones.  The pleasure of watching , listening, partaking in life.   Some folks are wasting away for want of a little attention.    Some sleep their seconds away.   Some are lost to a kind word or a light touch . . . there I go again....well, I see it every day.     Get out there and give of  YOU, not a lot of your time, just a little of it.   Go and visit an older member of your family.    Take a few of your seconds and donate them to making one of your older members feel useful and wanted.    The old adage of what you put into life is what you get out of it...so remember you are getting older by the second and there will be a day when , as the old timers would say,  'the chickens come home to roost."

So today, be thoughtful.   Be kind, be generous with your seconds....share YOU.....it's that easy.    Now, if you want to cheer me up, stop in and put those blasted batteries in the new BP machine so I can take my blood pressure and see how the new meds are doing.    I have put them in all by sideways and I might try that yet.    I have become a child...humph!!!

Go....have fun....do those good deeds with a smile on your face;  love in your heart and a hug to satisfy the best in both of us.  Hugs to all.
