Called the reindeer people

reindeer make a special mode of travel way up in the arctic.

The heceta Lighthouse in Oregon.

A truism

Good morning.   As I looked at the pictures of the reindeer people who live up in the Arctic, I thought how little I know of them.   It peeked my curiosity and now I want to find a book and read about them.   I have no idea who they are, where they came from, what it is like to live in the Arctic.   There is just so much we do not know and the older you get the more you realize how little you do know.   We have often been told that with age comes wisdom;  not so, with age comes an awareness that time is our enemy as there are faces and places we have never heard of and people just like us who live in an entirely different way.    I should have paid more attention to those National Geographic magazines which took you to all parts of the world.

I liken my lack of knowledge about people as I liken it to the computer which I find a wonderful tool for communication but I don't really understand, or know what  I could accomplish if I had  more smarts.    I found some messages yesterday which I did not know existed.  Purely by accident and you wonder why I do not respond.   Not intentional, just a lack of knowledge on this end.    When Christine checked the computer the other day, she discovered that I had 148 updates . . . um. . . I think I ignored some instructions along the line.  It took all day and then some for them to load up and I have no idea what they do, could care less, and would appreciate it if no updates were made as it always makes new inroads I have no map for.   Okay, you smart computer wizzes, laugh out loud.

Yesterday was a beautiful sunshine day here in Port Orchard.   I used the walker and went for my  usual walk all the way to the corner and back just as the school children were let out.   I met several singles and groups along the way and got a hello and a smile from them.    It was nice to see the youngsters acknowledge the drivers that stopped to let them cross.   We have another sunshine day due in today but I am going off to a shopping center in hopes of finding some new slacks, lunch out and maybe a walk around to window shop.    Going to a mall here means a 'twenty-minute- ride away, nothing to it. . . so they say!!  Not what I say... remember that old adage...'distance makes the heart grow fonder'......you know the ending don't you....'b.s. makes the grass grow longer'.  So wish me luck as the slacks I sent for came and I think I shrunk as they came up to my chin and over my shoes . . . wonder where those inches go and you never feel them going.   I have heard you look like your mother as you age;  well my mother was tall and slender; but . . my grandmother was short and barrel shaped and you know what genes I inherited.   I think its called 'barrel shaped'.   It still works so no complaints.

If you go shopping today, I wish you good luck in finding just what you want...need....and desire.   Don't forget to buy a Valentine or two, that's coming up fast, and a very nice way to say I love you to someone you really do love.     Add a friend or two, especially a lonely person who gets little or no attention;  make it a good deed day.    Be good, be kind, be gentle and remember a light touch goes a long way in making someone you love and like feel worthwhile today.    Hugs to all.
