A truism
We had an outing and went over to Bremerton to the Puppet Museum. When this was announced, I thought I wouldn't bother to go. . . puppets. . . . probably cute but . . . well, thank goodness I didn't pay attention to me. . .I went and found an amazing sight of antique puppets the like I have never seen. I laughed out loud at the one box that the you put a quarter in, the docent keyed it, and the puppets came to life dancing and cavorting around like only puppets can. We went by case after case of puppets from fairy tale puppets to Chinese and Japanese Lords dressed in silks and satins. Some puppets were very, very old and well preserved. There were animals and one circus horse that was outstanding. Each one had a written history to read and come alive. It is a tiny museum, but it is filled with history and charm and I sure am glad I went. It always amazes me how we learn something new and different every day. So when you get an invitation to go somewhere you have never been, or to view something you have never seen, just go with the flow, relax and learn something new and different. You will never live long enough to enjoy all of the history and geography in our world. I had two full days of walking and enjoying sights and sounds, so when I got back to my apartment I closed the door quietly, did not leave it open, even a crack, and off went the shoes and down I sat in my favorite chair and did lots of nothing . I earned some sit down time. Oh, and we did have lunch out at the Red Apple and the ladies ordered their favorite milk shakes. How they can down the size of them and have food as well fascinates me. I think I had a milk shake back when I was sixteen and found them way too sweet. I like sour drinks, like a martini, but gave those up too....jeesh, after some time everything gets lost in the shuffle. The ladies were more than happy to share but it is Ash Wednesday the start of lent so I had a good excuse as I give up sweets for lent and giving up milk shakes is so easy it take no effort at all. ....smile..... So today think about some of the museums in your areas. Find out what is the offering and make a plan to go and find out just what is there between those four walls. You may be in for a lovely surprise and a fascinating hour or two to just learn something new and different. Be good, be kind, be sure to make a new friend today. Never forget the old for they are the 'gold' in your life; treat the 'new' as if they were gold and you will treasure them forever. A smile, a hug; what more could you want. . . maybe a chocolate milk shake or some black coffee. . . indulge to bulge and take a friend along. Hugs to all. |
