The Political Cartoonist are busy, very busy keeping us up to the present on what is going on . . I didn't watch the State of the union message as once I turned on the television and our President was entering the chamber kissing all the ladies as he entered and every one was clapping...for what? Okay, I wont go into a harangue but all I can say it is going to be a very long year for each and every one of us. The hypocrisy is so sad to just watch. I am not sure what has been going on in China , broke and having problems???? How come? We have been having to buy everything, and I mean everything, that comes in from China. We want made in the USA, but that is not what flooded our markets for years.....so how come they are broke? Strange!! Well, enough about politics. We have to pay attention, make up our minds and vote.....no vote goes unheeded.
Hump day, wonder if the rain is going to continue. It was cold and wet yesterday, a good day to stay in and find busy things to do. I have a new puzzle going and it is going to take time and energy to finish. A mystery puzzle and they are always wild and hard to do.....but satisfying once the puzzle is done. I thank son John every day for the puzzle board, it sure makes it much easier to work the puzzle. The only big problem is to time yourself as too much sitting is as bad as too much standing and it all begets sore muscles. A big price to pay for having fun.
Here at Ridgemont, it is quiet. You get what you give around here as I had some delicious dates given to me for Christmas and I shared some with out baker, Doris, who brought a lovely little date and nut bread to the door yesterday. Delicious and already long gone. She made some 'top hat' cookies that were different and delicious. this ninety-eight year old is remarkable.
We had a new lady, Marca (not Marcia) who said she has been here since September but was slowly recovering from a diabetes event that almost took her life. She had no idea she had diabetes. She is recovering and starting to take part in the activities . A lovely lady and easy to be with. Ron stopped by to tell of his doctor visit. His leg is getting better but so slow. He is healing very slowly and is really tired of all the sitting. He can hardly wait to get his wheels back and take off for a trip to a store or two and walk the aisles. I gather a tendon takes a lot of time to heal and there are weeks of therapy yet to go. Vinnie and I read today...if he is up to it. he has been diagnosed with Parkinson disease and having a tough time accepting it. Ginny came and had a cup of tea with me, a break through for our silent lady. We have three Bettys and our Betty J. has taken off for Laughlin, Nevada for a week of playing. Our Vera is back after a few hospital stays and seems to be in a negative mood as she talks non stop and has nothing cheerful to say. Seems everyone is at fault for one reason or another. She is just angry with her world right now. You cannot expect a lot of bright news from the octogenarian folks, but they are up, moving and doing ; or napping their lives away. Those Golden Years are a bit tarnished for some. Remember them all in your prayers...they really are good people.
So, go spent your seconds doing the things you love to do and work at making one person happy today....bring out the smiles and brighten up their eyes as they look to you for a bit of sunshine. A phone call; a short note; a visit; a treat. . . sure you can...your up to it.....you do such good work....all you have to do is walk into their space and their whole world lights up. Be a ray of sunshine especially if the day is gray. Beam!!!! Hugs to all. |
