The puzzle is finished and it was not an easy one. Seven huge white candles with poinsettias, and lots of berries and cones. It almost got thrown back in the box a few times but persistence, insistence, pure stubbornness got the results needed to finish a very beautiful picture. Yeah, it was fun. . . honest.
The weathermen tell us we are going to have a very windy rainy day today so March is going to come in like a lion and hopefully go out like a lamb. We will see. One can never depend on the weather predictions as they sometimes fool us . I have a date to have my hair cut , about time as I look like a shaggy dog. I have been going to a place where the price is right but the cut is wrong. I have high hopes of having some semblance of order this time as I go to a beauty shop where the price will set me back but the operator will make me look good. I don't do well with feathery locks that look like some old plucked chicken. No news from Ridgemont today. It was very quiet. A lot of folks have been off and away and a few down with bronchitis or a head cold. One of our ladies moved over the weekend to a new place closer to where her husband is housed. He is an Alzheimer patient and quite a distance from Ridgemont so she found a closer place. We will miss her as she was one of the open friendly ladies who was easy to know. It has been interesting to watch the changes this past year. The apartments are in demand it seems. There were folks in the foyer filling out forms yesterday so the apartments do not stay empty long. So if you have not taken steps to save for your 'spot' in your elder years, it is time to start. Make a plan, find out what is available in your area for housing or for having some outside help to come into your home. Having a special account and putting away a few dollars a month ...which you cannot touch....will mean that you have good choices down the road. Think about it as it is really important. I don't know if you have been a fan of "Downtown Abby" over the last few years, but the finally is coming up next Sunday so mark your calendar. It has been a great series and I have enjoyed it. It will be interesting to find out what the new series will be about. PBS has put on some great programs. So today, find things to do, places to go and friends to meet and greet. Do yourself a favor and get out of the house for awhile. Go shopping, buy stamps at the Post Office, write a letter or a short note as someone needs to hear from you. I know all the latest gadgets get your attention but a nice written word has a meaning all its own. Check out the cards and find something that is funny , something to tickle the funny bone of someone not quite up to par. A smiley face never goes out of style. I remember card shopping with a friend and we would stand and read different cards and before we knew it we would have a few folks join us and we'd have a laugh fest. Laughter makes quick friends and a happy sales clerk. Maxine used to be a favorite. Be good, be kind, be gentle and light up your world today. Bear hugs are special; a kiss on the cheek would brighten any curmudgeon and a kind word with a gentle touch will make you a friend for life. Hugs to all. |
