Reasons

How fortunate we are.   There are many homeless out there including children, folks sleeping in cars, destitute.  Some one thing has to be done and there are groups forming hoping to find an answer to this horrible problem.    There is nothing that says you cannot contribute some thought, words, deeds in helping to solve the problem.  Some towns have shelters, some Churches open a door and serve a free lunch, and bless the mission folks who have an open door and try to help.  Maybe you are in a position to donate a few dollars to help buy some groceries , one of those stored blankets you never use.  Think about it and do what you can.

Reading is really a Winter sport.    Go visit the library, a book store and stock up.    Find a cozy nook and a book and you really wont care if there are blizzard conditions outside.

At first I thought I really didn't like this painting because of the long branches and high growth but then I took a good look and decided it was really very good as it is an abstract painting and there are all kinds of 'things' to find within.  Keep looking and you will discover an aquarium of beautiful fish.  The artist is very clever.

Here at Ridgemont it was a visiting day for me.   I don't like to be griping and groaning over the dinner food all the time but when it is bad it is really bad.  We had two choices, a piece of bar-b-qu chicken, with cold tater tots and cold slaw, or a hamburger.    My girls had  taken me to Moon Doggy for their hamburger special the night before so I opted for the chicken.   Bad choice....unless you like to chew for a very long time.  I gave up.    They , the chefs, must find the oldest hens around or else order some last years left overs from KFC.    Even our Ginny who really cleans her plate at every meal, left some on her plate.   the other ladies skirted around the edges and all agreed to go back to their apartment and find something editable.  As I said I went for a visit and Doris had made homemade coffee buns bemoaning the fact she burned the edges....tasted good to me....then I saw Aggie and she had just bought some tangerines so that was a great desert.   I left my door open ready to serve some tea and cookies but no one came.    They were all probably sulking about what could have been and should have been.  Maybe today will be better.

Here I am talking about the folks who are homeless and without a decent meal.   Too bad we couldn't share some of the wasted food here.   I would like to feed them a decent meal but not from here....sorry, there I go again.    I think I miss cooking my own  meals, even those 'jean' dishes that were made up from all kinds of good things.

So today head for the kitchen and fix yourself something extra special.    Make your favorite meal and relax and enjoy it.  Savor the taste and textures and be glad that you have a beautiful kitchen and a stove and the ability to use it.     Don't forget to count your blessings and be thankful for what you do have.    Be extra good and invite some family and friends to join you...have a party.....mac and cheese;    hamburger and noodles,    a big fat hotdog and some beans.  You don't have to be fancy, just have enough to share and do not forget desert and bulge a little;  you can skip desert tomorrow.    Go, make your winter day fill with sunshine from within no matter what the weather is outside.    Your smile can warm the cockles of the heart ;  so smile.   Hugs to all.
