Crayons

Don Marco is a master Crayola artist.    I cannot imagine being able to paint such master pieces with crayons.   Some folks are just born with a talent that has to be shared.

Speaking of talent, there were eight of us who joined Sandy, a lovely lady who brought the makings of cards with her and gave us the opportunity to make two.    She had chosen the materials wisely and all materials were pre cut so it was a matter of making a decision as to where you wanted to place the pieces.    It was a simple procedure but old fingers had a way of making things a bit crooked, but, they were fun to do and came out pretty good.   We dabbled in two kinds of glue.   You try picking up a tiny sparkle and place it in one spot....not as easy as it looks.   If we had wet our finger it would have been a cinch, but after a little serious picking up one tiny little sparkle after another we did get the hang of it.    One card was a picture of a cute little girl from another era, with curls and a smile to wish you well;  the other was a Valentine with all kinds of hearts to choose from and we had to decide where and how to place them.    We made not be artists but we had fun and our finished products will only be sent to those that love us in spite of our 'talent'.    Everyone enjoyed dabbling in the arts and I would say we all would like her to come back again with another project.

Quiet settled in here in Ridgemont as the rain poured buckets, or cats and dogs, as we used to say.   The wind was up, not too much, but enough to move the trees leaves .   We have many trees around us , what I think must have been like a forest before the medical folks took over.    You would be amazed at the size and scope of the buildings here in Port Orchard,. everything from clinics to medical offices and many fancy complex apartment buildings for the elderly.   Ridgemont is a senior apartment complex, probably forty five apartments in this one building.  There are two other buildings also.  Then going either north or south on Pottery Avenue you see bigger and fancier buildings with a price tag to stagger the imagination.

Everyone settled in and quiet prevailed until the fire alarm went off and stayed screeching at top level for what seemed like a half hour.   The fire men had just checked the fire alarm out recently, I think they turned the volume up.   It is so loud it vibrates my apartment.  My neighbor came out and said it gave her a headache.   It seems Carolyn was cooking something for her dinner and it started to smoke and wouldn't quit thus the alarm went off.    It doesn't take much, believe me.   I don't know what we would do if we had a real fire, probably ignore it.

So today dabble in the arts.   If you have a talent great, go for it and share.  If you don't dabble in the creative arts with a leader and enjoy an  hour or two of trying to be a creative genius.   The month is winding down and the winter storms keep us hunkered down and the want for something to keep us busy.    Each of us has a hidden talent so winter is a good time to perfect it.   A batch of cookies would be fun to make today.    I'd go for a piece of carrot cake, just invite me and I'll show you how age perfects the taste buds.    Maybe you would rather paint or try crayons and see what you can do and come out of the shadows with that talent you have.    Just top it  off with a good deed.   There is some one person  in your life that needs a second or two of your time today.   Someone who needs a smile, a hug, and a bit of your attention.   Use that 'talent' and share YOU with those you love and like.    Hugs to all.
