It Is Early!

It is cold out this morning; the cars are frosted;  the roof across the way is too....but it is warm in here and it is time to blog ..about what??   Wish I knew...smile.
Jock was feeling a lot better so was planning on doing a little fishing....hope he catches a big one.

A new day, not a lot being offered as to places to go and things to do but I am planning on going out for a few groceries.   It doesn't take long for the cupboards to get bare  and although there is some food in the house ...there is nothing in this house according to me and I am going to go and get something...which means....something good...smile.

I did not go out yesterday so there is no news to spread..   I stayed in hoping for it to clear and warm up so I could walk to the corner and back.    The wind was up;  cold, not a walking day.   The big puzzle keeps me busy for a time;  it is not coming along as fast as I'd like;  illusive pieces;   the kind that makes you want to put it back in the box and forget it..smile...of course we never do;  trying to find that one piece can be exasperating , but..once you find it..voila!!  One more piece!!!

I am still reading the same novel for a month now....have to finish it but it has been a chore to stay with it.  The author drones on and on and says nothing.   I'd throw it away but once I start a book I want to find out the finish..maybe I should read the last chapter first...smile.

So, it is off to the grocery store in awhile.   I get to pick and choose some goodies.....need a bit of meat, a few vegies and something good to go with a cup of tea.    We have our main meal here but breakfast and supper are ours to do.    We don't need a lot, but finding some of the things we love to eat is not a chore but a food finding mission that helps our taste buds stay alive and well.     No more bagels, they have been tough and doughy and tasteless and expensive.   I am going to buy a loaf of raisin bread for my morning taste bud wake up.    Um....although rye is a favorite and there is nothing wrong with pumpernickel...one of each...nah.....too much of anything good is not good for the girlish figure....wonder where that went???...haven't had one in some time.

So, put on your shoes, grab your coat and go grocery shopping.  Don't forget something sour and something sweet...be good, be kind, be gentle and spread a little love around today.   BE YOU.    Hugs to all.

Same Old Stuff!!!

I was thinking of a Happy New Month but it already has a few days gone;  time does fly whether you are having fun or not.   Our weather is winter like this week;  must be getting ready for a change....well, one can hope.
Talk about camouflage, these two have it down to perfection.    Aren't they beautiful....nature has the answer when these two want to hide.
I think son John's gift of a puzzle board was one of the best gifts I have ever received.   This board is in use a lot....the best thing is that you can move it when you want to serve a meal, then just put it back and start working on the puzzle.   I have a tough one on there right now.   If you are looking for a gift for a puzzle maker, think board, sure makes it fun.

A new week...didn't I just say that...seems so.    Yesterday was a Sunday indoors as the weather threatened and finally burst into a stormy rainy day.   You cannot walk to the corner on a rainy day and wearing holes in the carpet should get me into trouble.    I had a break though as granddaughter Erin stopped by with some ice cream...um,um, good!!!Later Pat stopped bye and put in a few puzzle pieces and a box of KFC chicken;  a dinner like we used to have now and then when we didn't feel like cooking.   It had been awhile since I had it, so it tasted pretty good.    It must have as I had the last of it around ten o'clock, not a time to be eating but when hungry you just grab and enjoy.   I have finally given up thinking about having a slim silhouette , besides Katrina The Great lasts longer.

So we are off to a brand new week and will find out what is in store for us.    Some have plans and will pack up and go some where ; maybe a walk on the beach or an early walk out in the garden as you make plans for the early planting.   I hope you have a bleeding heart bush in your garden.  When I was very little we had one in our yard and it was my favorite.  Pat planted one in her garden in Brookings just for me.    It always reminded me of Pa, garden hands with cracks and crazes, love and beauty.

The coffee cup is empty, that will never do, I'm off for a refill, turn on the TV and find out what is going on in our world.     Join me, fill your cup, turn on the news, put your feet up and catch up with your work plans later.    Be happy today.    why not...happy is good.    Hugs to all.

Hello Again!!

Good Morning . . . the right way to start a day.    Ask to be the best you can be and watch what happens......a great day ahead and all you have to do is ask.
Emma. . . so sweet, so loving.
Another weekend..um...what to do?    Where to to?    What to fix?   Think I'll just think of you and that brings thoughts of how much YOU are missed;  how much fun it would be to share time with YOU;   wishful thinking , can't live without it.  Well . . . my old friend would ask where I was going to dig it. . . I have the blinds open and it is beginning to show some light in the sky; think we are in for rain but we heard that several times this week and only got a drop or two.   Yesterday, Pat and I had a drive to Paulsbo and I got to play on a fisherman theme machine at the casino
. . . went fishing, smile, and did catch a few coins so played for a little while.   I spent some time on the keno machine but no big win, just a few chances to replay and live in high hope....well it doesn't hurt but it doesn't make the pocketbook feel heavy.  At the end of my stay in the casino, I did come home with my own money and a little...very little bit of theirs...smile.   Gambling!!!  Well, that is what it is...a gamble....sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but in the interim you hope that you have a little luck along with a little fun.

We were promised rain yesterday which never came, but this morning the clouds are gathering and they are deep blue, not up over the trees as yet so I cannot tell if  what is in store for today.  I am not planning anything special, maybe a trip to the grocery store and stock up on some tasty tidbits. So you can see my exciting life goes on.   How about you?    What have you been up to?   What is on going in your lives;  it is okay to send me some words for they not only cheer me up but let me know what you are doing.    I just hope you are long cured of the residue of that flu that went around; some folks have been left with a never ending cough.    Not sure what will cure it but be sure you take care so you don't go into pneumonia.   Be sure you work on getting healthy, wealthy and wise.  If you get healthy you will be content;  if you get wealthy you can adopt ME and wise...um......of course you are, look at your taste in correspondents....smile.

I am off for a refill...going to get dressed.....going to turn on TV and see what the Donald is up to and put my shoes on and go out the door first chance I get.   Go, have a Sunday to remember.  Fun, Food, Family and Friends.....and we were told the 'F' words were naughty....don't believe everything you hear...smile.   Be good, be healthy, be wealthy, be wise and 'adopt' me....smile.

Hugs to all.

Early Saturday

Good Morning.   Wow, I have large print this morning...um...wonder how that happened . . . looks good, I can see the print, smile.

It is a very quiet morning, light blue skies, not a tree limb moving, not a soul out in the parking area and very few cars out there right now.   I have had my blueberry bagel and  I will not buy them again.  They were terrible but too expensive to throw away.    I think I'll switch back to raisin bread and get more for my money.  I should give up bread but then breakfast would never be the same.

Not a lot to talk about this morning.  I didn't go anywhere to brag about;  I didn't do anything to brag about...so I have no bragging privileges.  Going to check on a picture and see what I find...don't go away.
Good thoughts for the Lenten season.

Saturday is a good day to do a lot of nothing serious;   lighten the load;   be a friend today and share some love and laughter.

I am going to give your eyes a rest and go and refill my coffee cup and check out the news.   It would be nice to hear something cheerful , no grousing, no finding fault with the world around us but that would be wishful thinking.   There is a way though if we were brave enough to do it...turn the TV off...smile.

Go, have a fun day.  Do some one thing that makes you smile.    Be sure to take a friend along.    I am off to make the grocery chain bigger.....shopping for the week time and I have no idea what I'd like to have this coming week.    I know..Saturday fare....beans and hot dogs...want to come?   You are more than welcome.

Take your smile with you when you go out today.   Make folks glad to see you.   If you have a few spare coins, buy some doughnuts or a big coffee cake and surprise someone you like and love with a treat this morning.    Share YOU with those you like and love.    Have a day to remember, hopefully one that is filled with JOY!!! Hugs to all.

More!!

Yep!!! Spring is right around the corner. . .
the rain is here and it is still a bit on the cold side but the weather is changing slowly and Spring is about to spring.
Erin and Donaleo  ......Congratulations to Donaleo ...college diploma in hand....wow,   a solid achievement, a tremendous task, a job well done, a WOW!!!   He did it....and at the moment is teaching some seventh grade students.....hard work, success, a special achievement....we are very proud of him....and he cooks....Erin's choice for her mate and I'd say she chose wisely.Come to think of it, he didn't do badly at all.....she really is a winner!!  Prejudice....nah!!!  Just bragging a little...grandchildren are really good to have in ones life.

Get behind your college students with love and encouragement for it is a long road of hard work, then on to a successful future.    Life is tough from cradle to the grave and encouragement is the one blessing one can give a young person starting out on the road to the rest of their lives.
A few dollars now and then doesn't hurt a bit...so be as generous as you can be without spoiling them.   Think back when you were first starting out.   Some of us had no chance for college, it just was not to be, but some were fortunate and sailed through to good paying jobs and success.    The world needs 'grunts' and there is not shame in that.   They are the backbone of America.   We can not all be wined, dined and treated as a person of money, but achieving a college education 'by the seat of ones pants' is something to brag about.    A lot of love and encouragement ...and...a little hand out now and then...um.....doesn't really hurt but does give a boost to the morale.    Look around your family and see what is on going with the youngsters.   Who is working hard to get good grades and deserves a push into higher education.....who is putting their nose to the grind stone and really trying......who is willing to work hard for their future....then you will know a little kindness, a bit of help wont spoil them.   Be generous if you can....be good, be kind, be YOU.....share the love you feel.

Today is a good day to live a little, be of good health, be kind, be generous, be YOU.   Hugs to all.

Tasty!

Yes, it does look good enough to eat.  I had a 'hankering' for ice cream yesterday so stopped and bought some at the grocery store.  Not as good as an ice cream shop but it does serve the purpose , the whim, the want for something cold and creamy.   Calories???  What calories???   I didn't 'see' any.
I have no idea what this is.  Looks like a flower of some sort.  It looks like the center is blowing smoke.     Our world is filled with awesome and beautiful oddities we cannot name.  Well, maybe you can ...I just thought it was beautiful, different and worth looking at.
At first I thought this was a flower, a strange one, something garden like, but....it is not...it is some kind of a ride and I wouldn't want to go on it.  Too high, too open and scary for me.  Yeah!!!  I am a sissy.

March is here, weather will be changing each day, every day, as we head for spring and all its wonders.    Lent, the forty days before Easter Sunday;  a time to 'give-up' some one thing to show just how much 'mettle' you do have.  It is not easy but it can be done and once you have accomplished what you set out to do your sense of pride in accomplishment says it all.    Try giving up sweets and you will find how difficult it really is, or give up watching  your favorite television shows.   Whatever you decide know you will come out in the end full of self confidence and pride in your Lenten journey.

I have to tell you that I had dinner with Pat last evening and she is a master chef.   She fixed those huge 'portabella' mushrooms, stuffed and baked and oh so delicious.  She is an amazing 'chef' and I am happy to sit at her table any invitation I get.    I have to tell you giving up cooking is not hard at all.  I thought I'd never get out of the kitchen but find it easier every day....smile.

So today, go grocery shopping and buy some of those huge mushrooms and stuff them and you...enjoy .    Take time to do one good deed today.  Find a reason to exist in your world.    Find time to share YOU with those you like and love.   If, by chance, you have been under the weather, I hope you found a cure and are filled with good health and happy moments today.     I wonder what mischief I can get into today;   um....think I'll go find out.

Hugs to all.

New Month!

Time marches on as today begins the first day of the season of lent;  the forty days before Easter Sunday, if you can imagine that.  How time flies.   Winter is leaving and Spring is about to awaken our taste buds for more of the outdoors.
New bright and beautiful days, changes in our weather patterns, longer day light hours, and probably a lot more outdoor activities.  Gardening comes to mind.
Early sunlight, a time of rebirth, a time to shine.

Our local Art gallery is a very special place  where we spend some of our waking hours.   There is work to be done when it comes to keeping tabs on the history of  little tiny town that grew and grew; and delve into boxes of pictures and bits and pieces of very ancient keepsakes from an era that is long gone.    Granddaughter Erin and I spent some time sorting things out yesterday, numbering and naming is the name of that game.    We had our first box to delve into and if that is a beginning, we should be busy for some time to come.    We don't have time to read all the words but the pictures of people and places tell a story all its own.  The Port Orchard pioneers were strong and very active people.    They had a sense of pride in their town and knew an art gallery would be the best place for storing the bits and pieces of the  history of the town.   Those folks saved artifacts and books and papers that tell of its history.    As I was handling the papers, and pictures, I thought how wonderful it would be to introduce the town folks to their own history and the town they live in. A few are interested, most could care less;  but, I bet if the Gallery folks got busy and had a 'history time' a lot of the young folks would want to learn all about where they live and how it came to be.  The Gallery folks offer walls for the young artists of the schools.   The children are talented and they take pride in their work.    The art work tells a story all its own.  History, Geography, how we use to think that those words were a meaning for hard work...then we found how interesting and how wonderful it is to be able to trace back, in time, the wonders of what used to be.   The people of Port Orchid should be immensely proud of their history and their town.    So today, if you have nothing special you have to do, take time out and go and visit your local gallery.   Hopefully the words and pictures will give you a few hours of pleasure and you will come away with a sense of pride and belonging.    Put on your shoes, invite a friend out to lunch and a look see at your local gallery.  It may prove to be your best day in a long time.    Go...enjoy.

Be good, be kind, be gentle and treat everyone you meet today just exactly as you would want them to treat you.    Kindness doesn't take much work at all;  in fact it is one of the easiest gifts we have, so....share it.    Hugs to all.

Good Morning!!!!

I am about to take a ride on my broom....thought you might like to come along!!! Good morning.  I've been awake for hours,  why?   Who k...
