A new week, new days of weather; some we will like, some we will tolerate and some we will love. We had snow flakes yesterday but nothing stuck. It was cold enough but only for a short while. I stayed in and entertained one of our lovely ladies who came for tea and cookies. We gabbed away and enjoyed words that were memories of days gone bye. Doris is a tall Scandinavian woman, a quiet soul, a teller of tales of long ago when she was back in a tiny one room school and was the teachers helper. She laughs when she tells you tales of long ago and had a teacher named "Miss Sullivan" . A lovely way to spend a chilly Sunday when there is no place to go and no one visiting. Having an open door pays off as the folks roam the hallways for exercise and love to find an open door especially if there is a cup of hot coffee, a cold drink, and something to go with it. The tales of yore are endless and each person has a different tale to tell as you listen and learn about other parts of our country in years gone bye and the changes that have taken place. Circumstances brought them here but if they had their druthers they would be happy to turn the clock back to happier time when they had their love ones surrounding them. The mystery of life; the mystery of time long gone; the mystery of out living so many of our family and friends. The road traveled is very long for some and so short for others. It behooves us, an old word, to think about how we want to spend our seconds which are so precious. One day follows another and those of us who are sharing time and space enjoy the tales of our earlier lives. We all had different types of work to do; some in the home, some outside the home. Some had careers. Some raised large families. Some regret never having children of their own. Each one has a different story. Each one has memories they are happy to share. Some are writing those memories up and some are thinking about it and probably never will. Sad as their children would learn so much about life and love. Sharing is caring and it does make the day go bye faster as it is filled with words that bring about 'head' movies that we can share. I hope you are building memories for a time that will soon be here for you when you are retired from the working world and have your pension in hand and your time is all your own to share with those you like and love. Those days you are living right now will be the memories you share down the road...make them good ones.
Today be a giver...a giver of hugs....a giver of your listening ear....and share some special treats, heat up the water for a cup of tea or cocoa; keep the coffee pot on. Open the door and let friendship, happy tales and good company be the best part of your day. Hugs to all.
