A bit of the bubbly and a good time was had by all!!!
Another winner, a night out at the Gallery here in Port Orchard. The rains continued but that did not deter the folks from coming out for the first Christmas gathering of this year that is ending on a high note. Folks came, they enjoyed the hard work of the team that puts these affairs together. The same crew, all seasoned veterans now and the work is not work but a labor of love. The table was pulled out and an extra tier was added so all of the incoming treats were displayed and oohed over. The cakes, the pies, the treats of all kinds, all or most all home baked. There was a few treats from the local bakery, not really a bakery, a one man operation in downtown Port Orchard and pastries that are different and more than delicious. The bar was set up and the ice bucket filled. The deserts were featured on the highest tier of the table while the stick to your ribs delicacies were within grasp. Plenty to go around, all delightful, delicious and delectable, so, if you went home hungry it would have been your own fault. Setting up is fun and the 'team' are experts now. I am getting very good with the knife and spacing out generous pieces of all sorts of goodies from large sheet cakes to fancy ones that are almost to nice to cut. The chips, the dips, the bowls of treats line up like they know just where to be. The doors opened, the rain rained down but the crowds came and enjoyed the final Gallery meeting of this year and talked about plans for the next year. Yes, that time of year all over again...endings and beginnings. Life goes on....and how much we enjoy plotting and planning for a new year at the Gallery. Our King Louis made a delicious soup and it was just right for the wet and wintry night. There were so many delicacies , to many to name, all delicious and tasty. I can tell you there were not much in the line of leftovers. So as the old saying goes..."the party was a huge success" . . .
I take up space in the kitchen where I have had a little experience in my day...smile.....I enjoy the kitchen and feel right at home there. It is amazing how many of the folks stop in there to say hello and stay awhile. There is always a conversation on going and not a word is lost as one comes in and one goes out laden with goodies for the main table. Everyone wants to help and one family comes with family members from little tiny ones to teens and they all want to help celebrate no matter what the occasion. One of our ladies is leaving us for the wilds of Oregon, the eastern part, I believe. She has her heart set on a move and is all excited about seeing new places and faces. She has picked out the spot she wants to live in and it will be very interesting to hear how she likes it. It seems there is a very tiny town that has attracted her attention. I hope she finds happiness and contentment there.
So once again, a successful evening at the Gallery. There was a lot Christmas shopping and that will put a smile on the artists faces. The art work is 'tops' and the smaller items made by the artisans are well done and useful. They take pride in their work and it shows. So, once again I remind you that when and if you come to Port Orchard, stop in at the Gallery and meet some wonderful folks and enjoy the expert talent of our local artists.
Today is a day of rest. The feet will go up on the hassock, the television series of "Downtown Abbey" continues so you know what and where I will be today...unless, of course, I get a better offer.
Go be good, be a 'smile' on someone persons face; share YOU with those you like and love. Take time to be a friend. Take time to share. Take time to plot and plan a special treat be it a lunch or dinner invitation and join up with those you like and love. Have a FUN day filled with smiles and laughter. Hug a lot....someone is in need of one or two...or??? whatever you choose to share. So share and smile while you do it for it makes your soul grow in the love you share. Hugs to all. |
